The importance of being present

Business analysts are constantly interacting and communicating with our teams and stakeholders. 

We must remain open, focused, and listen carefully as we elicit information and perform analysis. Presence is essential so people feel heard, and so that we don’t miss anything or misunderstand what is being said.

Whether working with a team member to help deliver a solution, or listening to an interesting conference presentation, remaining present enables us to concentrate and grasp information fully.   

While being present sounds simple and straightforward, our minds easily wander. We are constantly bombarded with all sorts of distractions that hijack our attention – and the number of distractions we face isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Stress and fatigue compound the situation, so remaining present becomes a huge challenge. 

In this short video, Kathy will discuss the power of presence. She will talk about techniques that enhance listening and concentration to remain aware and present in the moment.
